It’s finally here! Our Master Bedroom Makeover for the One Room Challenge. Not only was this apart of the One Room Challenge (where bloggers have 6 weeks to completely transform and blog about their spaces) this was also a $500 Bouclair Challenge AND quite the challenge for myself as I was in the last stages of pregnancy, had our baby girl AND completed the project with a newborn. Quite the ‘challenge’ if I do say so myself. With that in mind, I actually missed my week 6 blog post. Whoops! Please forgive me. Regardless, I know you want to see the before and afters so scroll down for the full reveal.
Do you remember what the room looked like ‘Before’?
We knew that we had our work cut out for us. First up, the carpet had to go. We stripped the floors which made all the difference. A little bit of Benjamin Moore paint and WOW the transformation was underway. We chose ‘Cloud Cover’ from Benjamin Moore. It’s a gorgeous creamy off white and it really makes our Metrie trim and doors POP.
So next, we had our contractors from Foxwood Custom Carpentry install our doors. Drool right? No not, about the contractors… the doors! HA (get your mind out of the gutter). We couldn’t be happier with how our Fashion Forward Doors from Metrie turned out. They completely add a touch of luxury to our bedroom.
I forgot to mention that I also refinished my grannie’s dressers. You’ll find that in week 3‘s post. I think I was 37 weeks pregnant at the time. Am I crazy or what? We are seriously in LOVE with these dressers. Several friends have told us that they look so expensive. The best part? They were my grannie and granda’s so they really mean a lot to me. We used Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint™ which was incredible to use. We chose the colour “Pure” and it went on so smooth. The best part? We didn’t have to sand a thing. We also used Annie Sloan’s Clear Wax and a Dark Wax to get this incredible antiqued finish. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed with their paint.
As a new mom with the baby sleeping in our Master Bedroom I really wanted to make sure she wasn’t breathing in any of the pollutants in the air from our reno. With that in mind, we decided to test out the Phillips Air Purifier. It’s known to capture 99.97% of all pollutants in the air and gives you real time air quality feedback. I’d notice that if I blew out a candle the air purifier would jet into hyper gear to clear out all of the particles in the air. Plus, I can control it from my phone! It helps to remove allergens, gases and odors from a space and I’m thankful to get rid of all of those in our household. Our dog has allergies and I’ve noticed a difference in how much he licks his paws after using the Phillips Air Purifier. Also, the air honestly just seems more refreshing (is that strange to say)? My mother in law has had several lung surgeries and she swears that the air in our space is so much easier for her to breath in. We’ve truly noticed a difference.
Onto the accessories (my favourite part!). I partnered with Bouclair for our Master Bedroom Makeover and I challenged myself to spend only $500. I did it! Did you follow along with the budget breakdown? You can find that in week 5’s post.

Love the calming feel to the room!! Great job! Is that a queen or king bed? Also, where is the white duvet cover from?

Thank you so much Kathleen. it’s actually a Queen. Wish we had a King ;). One day when we have more kids maybe we’ll need the extra room haha. The duvet cover is actually from the shopping channel. Headboard is from the bay. Hope that helps <3 Thanks for the kind words.
