After weeks of picking pillows, returning carpets and searching for the perfect piece of art… here it is:

Welcome to my living room!

I love the contrast between the pillows. The touch of silver sparkle picks up the sparkle from the Swan Artwork above the sofa.  It also helps to pop the Tiger Eye Pattern on the other pillow. I think the contrast provides the perfect texture for this room. I also love that the pillows incorporate the monochromatic colour scheme I was going for. You’ll find that the room encompasses a palette from dark greige (a grey/beige colour) to very light white.

I found my couches at HomeSense (like many other items in this room). Ryan and I had shopped many furniture stores to find the perfect pieces for this room when one day we stumbled upon these couches. I just HAD to have them. I love the traditional look of the tufting along the back and sides of the couch, the straight lines add to the traditional look and feel of the room which was exactly what I was going for.

Light neutrals tend to open up a space making it feel comfortable, restful and peaceful. These are GREAT in any bedroom. These colours can also be found in traditionally styled spaces.

In a traditional style you’ll find balance in the room. In my living room, you can see the repetition in the couches, the wing back chairs, the pictures on the wall and the lamps. This is pleasing to the eye and allows for a sense of relaxation. That’s exactly what I want in my living room!

You can see that our pup Petie has made himself pretty comfy cozy on our new pillows. 

I love the pop of green in the plants that I’ve placed around the room. Now let’s see if I can keep them alive. Ha!
