ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK ONE – FALL 2017

Well, I’m hoping on board once again. This was a tough call considering I’m 38.5 weeks pregnant BUT I’m always up for a challenge.
For this round of the One Room Challenge I’ve decided to give my Master Bedroom a complete Makeover.
For those of you that are new here, welcome! Thanks so much for checking out my blog. My husband and I recently purchased a 1950’s Backsplit. We competely gutted the home, redesigned, redecorated and all while being pregnant and living through a month or two of renovations. We’re so thankful to Foxwood Custom Carpentry for doing such an amazing job with our space. You can watch the video below to see what I’m talking about:

So back to my bedroom… are you ready for the Before? Scroll down to see what I’m working with…

I’m not going to lie, that window is pretty amazing in our room. It’s quite wide and brings a lot of natural light in (which I love).
PAINT
First things first, we’re going to have to change that wall colour. I’m thinking about ‘Cloud Cover’ from Benjamin Moore. It’s the perfect off white to bring some warm to this space.
FLOORS
We want our main floor to have a consistent flow so this carpet has got to go! We’ll be installing the same hardwood that we have on our main floor. This will help to give the illusion of a bigger space.
COLOUR SCHEME
I’d absolutely LOVE to go crazy with pink in our bedroom but I’m not so sure my hubby would love that. I’m thinking about a variation of bluey greens (my favourite). Maybe even a mint green… we’ll see what I can come up with.
DIY
I’ve been storing some amazing dressers that used to be my grandmothers. We really didn’t need the extra storage in our old home. Of course, I had my own walk in closet that needed a massive purge before we moved into this home. I’m actually really surprised at how many clothes I was able to fit in my current closet. I don’t really ‘need’ the dressers like I thought I would but it will be nice to have things nice and organized. Let me get to the point… they need to be refinished. This is a project I’ve been putting off for ages so I’m thrilled that the One Room Challenge is going to light the fire under my tush to get them done.
ACCESSORIES
With the new/old dressers that we’ll have in room I know they’re going to need some styling. There’s a piece of art that I’ve been eyeing for some time now and I know it will be perfect for our space. I really want to layer some vases, wood elements and candles. Of course, pillows are a MUST and you can never have too many throw blankets in a bedroom.
Here we go friends. Now I’ve got to catch up fast as they’re already on week three of the ORC (but I’m usually late to the party anyways haha). Check back tomorrow to see the vision for the space. The week after… my DIY dressers. Let’s see how well they turn out (wish me luck). All of this while being 9.5 months preggo. I could literally have this baby any day now and the ORC might help get the baby here even faster!
Thanks for reading.
